The Power of Customizing With Personalization

I’m sure I’ve written a GRIP load of blogs talking about how important it is to understand your ideal prospects and target audience. And trust me, it is important to know about them – from what keeps them up at night to what they truly desire…

Knowing what they’re all about shows them that you understand them in much more ways than one. But you want to know what REALLY gets them on your team?

Reaching out to them individually!

I’m talking about customizing with personalization!

In this blog, we’re going to talk about how personalizing will help you build trust with your audience, which will, in turn, lead to more sales.

How To Personalize Your Copy

So let’s say you’re writing a sales letter to a customer about how to make money online. You’d probably write something along the lines of:

“The Fastest Way To Make Money Online!”

Fair enough, right?

Unfortunately, it’s way to general. But what happens if you’re trying to sell to a bunch of photographers who want to expand their awareness online?

All you would do is add a small tweak like:

“The Fastest Way For Photographers To Make Money Online!”

Pretty simple, huh?

But you’d be surprised how much more effective it is to personalize it to a specific audience!

And the best part is that you can make the same tweak to pretty much any demographic:

“The Fastest Way For Instagram Users To Make Money Online!”

“The Fastest Way For Bowlers To Make Money Online!”

“The Fastest Way For iPhone Users To Make Money Online!”

…and so forth.

Customizing With Names

Nothing is more personal to somebody than their name.

It’s been proven that you’re more likely to read something with your name on it than if it’s just a generic label (actually, it’s more like common sense, if anything…).

This is why whenever you receive emails, they usually have your first name on it! (I personally love it when I’m referred to as “Mr. Copeland” LOL).

So for example. Let’s say you’re writing to a customer about this new book on how to make paper airplanes:

“Dear Customer,

Did you know that there’s a way to make paper airplanes in just 3 seconds?

….”

*Yawn* Not that interested…But if you wrote it to me like this:

“Dear Mr. Copeland,

Did you know that there’s a way to make paper airplanes in just 3 seconds?

….”

Well, now you have my attention! Even though people are usually referred to by their first name in a letter…

Everyone loves hearing their name, whether they admit it to you or not. So why not capitalize on more engagement and more sales? It’s a win-win situation!

And just like the tweak we made with the headlines, you can make the same tweak with the names of your customers! The most common platform you’ll find the use of personalized customization is through email marketing.
